Open roads, rooftops, and wide industrial yards favor a controllable rifle or accurate SMG that can keep pressure on the Wasp while you remain near cover. Tight interiors call for a different rhythm. A shotgun or hard-hitting close-range secondary gives you a better answer when a Raider enters through a stairwell while your attention is on the ceiling. I prefer a balanced primary with manageable recoil, then use the second slot to cover the distance the primary handles poorly. That approach may sacrifice a little theoretical DPS, but it prevents the most common failure: winning the ARC exchange and losing the player fight immediately afterward.

Make Noise Work for You

Every Wasp engagement broadcasts useful information to everyone nearby. Instead of standing still and hoping nobody noticed, prepare a fallback route before the first shot. Start from cover with a second position already in mind, damage the target, then relocate as soon as your firing pattern becomes predictable. You do not need to sprint across the entire map; changing elevation, breaking line of sight, or moving to the opposite side of a structure is often enough to make an approaching Raider hesitate. Keep your close-range weapon ready during the reposition, because the player who arrives during this transition is usually more dangerous than the Wasp itself. Loot only after a short scan of nearby windows, roofs, and likely approach lanes.

Ammo and Equipment Decide the Profitable Run

Testing a build against the event target should include ammunition use, healing costs, and the time required to reset your position. A weapon that saves a few seconds but burns through a full magazine can become a poor farming choice after several raids. Carry enough rounds for one extra player encounter, not just the planned ARC fight. Equipment should support the same idea. Defensive utility is valuable when your weapon needs steady aim, while mobility tools help a close-range build escape a bad angle. Avoid filling every slot with damage-focused options. The reward only matters when you extract with it, and a modest setup that preserves health often produces better progression than an aggressive loadout that demands a perfect run.

Know When the Event Run Is Finished

Phantom Targets offers a strong reason to visit areas you might normally skip, especially while working toward the Anomalia Outfit, Finger Guns Wave, Trashpile Bag, and Raider Tokens. It does not require forcing a Wasp encounter in every raid, however. Once your event progress is secure, switch back to normal loot routes when the map becomes too contested or your ammunition starts running low.
